How to Knit - The Basics

7 7" Double Point Bamboo Knitting Needles 14 Sets of 5 Pieces per set (70 pieces in total)

My wife needed a different size needle for a project and I found these for 25 bucks. She's can knit anything and has hundreds of expensive needles of all sorts, but most are in storage while we are building a house. Long story short... She's thrilled with them and would buy more bamboo needles if she ever needs a size she doesn't have.

The larger size needles are not pointed enough. The smaller sizes are fine. I'm looking for a good pencil sharpener to do the job.

I've been using these needles for over a year, off and on. I am a long-time, skilled knitter. These needles are great for the price! They are not terribly smooth or "quick" and I do not recommend them for sock knitters--invest in something more high quality. But sizes 4 on up are just fine, and as cheap as they are, it doesn't break my heart when I lose one. I've never had one snap, splinter or in any other way fall apart, and they have become smoother with time and use. Overall I am very pleased with this "pinch hitting" inexpensive set.

I kind of took a chance on this since its not the brand my wife normally uses but she is well satisified with the quality. Nice assortment, good price, arrived on time... its all good.

Great needles. I use them to knit socks, gloves, etc and they are great. Not too soft or flimsy as others say.

13 13" Single Point Bamboo Knitting Needles Set

Reviews

I bought this set hoping to save time and money not having to buy pairs of needles individually. All of the needles are too "sticky" - difficult to get the yarn to slide off the needle. That might be helpful for some, but I would think it frustrating to anyone other than novices. I started getting a blister on my finger from trying to slide stitches off the needle. I'd recommend saving for a better set of needles such as the Clover bamboo needles. They are much easier to work with, yet not as slick as metal needles. The Clover set on Amazon doesn't have all the small sizes like this set, but the small sizes in this set (1-5) are so flimsy they aren't worth it.

I LOVE these needles. I can definitely tell the difference between these needles and some of my more expensive needles, but the differences are quite minor. While other brands may feel wonderful as they articulate, these still feel "good". They get the job done, and best of all - they are so cheap! Since purchasing this set, I haven't had to buy any additional straight needles. Us knitters know how expensive needles can get when buying them a pair at a time. As with all wooden needles, they will bend or bow if you use them for awhile with warm and/or moist hands. They will easily bend back into place if bending gently while they are warm and at least a touch moist. I'd say these are 4-star needles, but the value definitely bumps it up to 5-stars! I'll also add that I've only had the BEST experiences purchasing through Oriental Touch via Amazon. And, I love seeing that they comment to reviewers that have had problems with their products - often offering a replacement/refund.

Excellent quality, especially for the price. I've used several of the pairs in the set and find them strong and comfortable to handle

I bought these for my wife as a Christmas present. She just learned to knit and really enjoys these needles. The variety of sizes seem to be enough for a beginner and the price was very reasonable. Only issue so far; needles have to warp during use due to natural pressure placed on them by your hand while knitting. Possibly due to the fact that bamboo is a soft wood. Either way, this is a good intro product as far as I can tell.

Just received mine, the smaller needles are VERY flimsy feeling-I feel like I'm using a toothpick for sizes 1-6. The rest seem to be fine. I only had a small budget and these will do what I need them to do. When my budget expands, I'll replace these-but for now-they're fine.

29 29" Circular Bamboo Knitting Needles - US Sizes 1-15

Reviews

The plastic connecting the two needles is amazingly flexible. I'm not fighting the coil in the middle as i have with other circular needles. Bamboo has the warm smooth feel that makes knitting nearly effortless. The price was also unbelievable - less than $2 per set.

I am very pleased with these needles and the delivery was fast and prompt. Also the price was a bit lower than I had seen on other sites.

The price was right for these knitting needles. The joins do not snag yarn and they work well for addi style sock knitting.

This is my second purchase from this manufacturer - I bought the straight needles and was very satisfied with my purchase. They weren't quite as nice as Clover bamboo needles, but for what I paid for the Stanwood set, I was satisfied. Then I bought this set of circulars, and my money went down the toilet. Within a few weeks of knitting on the circulars, one of the needles separated from the cord. I attribute this to poor construction. These circulars consist of two bamboo needles joined by a hollow plastic tube and a little bit of glue. The hollow plastic tube separated from one of the needles, so I glued it. I repeated this process about four times (and with more than one needle size) before I gave up and threw the needles into my bottom drawer. It's irritating to have your needles break, but it's even more irritating to drop stitches on your project as the needles fail. Instead of putting $25 into this set of circulars, try to save up $50 more and go with an interchangeable set that is well-designed and will last. (Knit Picks' Harmony set was a great buy for me.)

I love my circular bamboo knitting needles. I've always found circulars easier to knit with than regular straight needles. With the bamboo ones you can knit so much smoother they are great. I'm so glad I got the set. I ended up giving a friend some of the sizes and she loves them too.

I knit socks all the time, so when I found these 4" double-pointed needles it was amazing. Really helps when you get to the toe and knitting is in close quarters. My order came within a few days after placing it online, and I'm very pleased with the needles and use them with every sock pattern.

I've been looking everywhere for 4" DPNs. I could find some, but they were expensive or not the right size (no one seemed to have above a US4). Now I have everything from 0 to 10 in sturdy, smooth bamboo. Shipping was also fast and the price is fantastic.

Knitting Korner: Sock I, How to Knit Socks on Two Circular Needles Knitting Korner: Sock I, How to Knit Socks on Two Circular Needles

Reviews

I found this video very helpful and was pleased with the results. I will probably buy the video that shows how to knit 2 socks at the same time and would certainly recommend this first video.

I am delighted to say that Nenah Galati's DVD lives up to its promise. If you already know how to knit and purl, this DVD will show you how to knit socks on two circular needles. The production values are good, with clear shots of Nenah's hands as she works her magic on circular needles. Although Nenah's nail polish needs to be toned down, she nonetheless provides clear oral and visual instructions on this knitting technique. The DVD comes with clear and concise written instructions for knitting socks, with passages marked in the text where you should refer to the DVD for clarification. There is also a printed list of the 19 other DVDs that Nenah's Knitting Korner ([...]) produces, covering everything from continental style knitting to a pampered pet sweater to Moebius knitting. Like 90% of the population, I learn best from a combination of visual demonstration, oral commentary and text. This DVD addresses the learning styles of most basic knitters, so I recommend it highly.

I believe Nenah has created a great atmosphere and a good tutorial for making socks. Nenah has beautiful manicured nails and some Jewelry. This did not take from me learning how to make socks, neither distracted me. In SOck number one you make a sock at a time and it gives you one option of making a heel. Wait for Sock Number 2, which I think is a good DVD as well and you learn something different. I have never made socks until now, and I started right away. The resale of this item is good, it is a great investment in my opinion!

In a nutshell I was thrilled with the results from this DVD. I bought it because I wanted to knit a pair of socks using circular needles as quickly as possible and I did just that. I had only knit two pairs of socks prior to using this DVD and they were knit using dpns--I found the process to be tedious and frustrating; however, I found the process of learning to knit with Nenah using circular needles to be just the opposite. Initially, I found using the two circular needles to be a bit confusing (a little more clarification and showing this process initially in the DVD would have been helpful), but in no time at all, it became obvious as to how to manipulate them and from then on I had no problems. Nenah also answered an email I sent her in less than 12 hours. I plan to buy her Sock II video next because I know I will have another positive learning experience. I want to learn as much as I can about knitting socks as fast as I can. Once I have mastered her Sock II DVD I will be ready for more challenges in knitting socks. I really feel that I got my money's worth with this DVD. Thank you, Nenah for the role you played in empowering me to knit beautiful socks!

This video has very clear video instructions to follow along and takes you step by step with stopping points for you to follow the directions until you come to the next point. It makes sock knitting very easy with no confusion. I highly recommend this video. If you are interested in sock knitting this is a much easier technique to learn than using 4 pointed needles.
