Round Loom/ Hook ToolReviewsI just bought this set last weekend and we've already made over 10 toboggans! I have daughters, ages 11, 10 and 7, and all of them can do this without any trouble at all. It's very easy! Since the set comes with 4 different size circle looms, we can all be working on separate projects at the same time. Having more than one hook would be helpful though. It was very easy to learn and if you buy nice yarn, the hats look store-bought, not homemade. I would suggest using 2 strands to make the toboggans thicker and more practical for really cold weather. I have also ordered a book about using circle looms to learn how to use them for other projects. We'll see how that goes once we get the book. I had thought about buying this loom set for some time but was afraid I wouldn't be happy with the finished product. I can't say enough good about it for someone looking for an easy way to knit. I highly recommend this product! I bought this after trying to crochet a scarf for my toddler with baby pink eyelash yarn - quite unsuccessfully I might add - and much to my elation, the loom was the perfect frustration reliever! I am now learning to make other things. My biggest surprise however, is that my 11 year old daughter (who's profoundly-autistic) was quite fascinated with the new activity I picked up and began asking to "help" me make things. After showing her just a couple stitches, she is now doing her own rows! Just might end up being a stress reliever for her and I'm looking at buying her her own loom to make blankets or scarves. :D Fun product. Would have liked directions for more projects. One can knit three different ways on these looms, but the instructions only cover one method. As an avid crocheter since the age of 5, I thought making the transition into knitting would be an easy one. Countless books, websites, and "teachers" later, I thought I was a lost cause who cannot follow directions and that knitting is impossible. I couldn't even learn from a book geared towards preteens! But I bought the knifty knitter from a craft store and made my first hat an hour later. The directions are extremely clear and easy, and this makes knitting fast and simple. I highly recommend it to kids and adults. THIS LITTLE LOOM IS BY FAR ONE OF THE BEST THINGS I HAVE EVER BOUGHT. BEING A HAND-KNOTTER FOR MORE YEARS THAN MOST FOLKS ARE OLD AND SPENDING A LOT OF TIME MAKING HATS FOR VARIOUS ORGANIZATIONS THIS LOOM CUT THE TIME DOWN TO ALMOST NOTHING AND IT IS SO SIMPLE AND THE FINISHED PRODUCT IS GREAT--GO AND BUY ONE!!!!! Knifty Knitter Loom HookReviewsThis is exactly what I was looking for. My husband made me the knitting loom, but I didn't have the hook. I got it in the time specified. The only complain I have is since I bought something from Amazon, I have been getting junk mail like never before. This loom hook just made the work so much easier. :) And I agree with the idea that you should get extra ones! I have been using this hook for sometime (this was a reorder)and it is very adequate for my looming projects. I bought more expensive versions of the loom picks and you know what? I still like this little cheap knifty knitter pick the best. Keep in mind that you will want extras; sometimes they get misplaced. You NEED them to do the looming and if you become addicted to it like I did you will be very sad if you cant find yours! Also unlike the more expensive ones they have a tendency to bend over time especially if you use multiple strands of yarn or work tightly... you will want more than one of these. One does come with the sets, buy a few extras. You wont be sorry Average Rating:![]() |

American Knitter's Round Knitting Loom Instructional How To Knit DVDReviewsThis DVD was very easy to follow. If you are a visual person in particular, you will appreciate the step-by-step directions for each process. They even cover how to fix mistakes. There are 4 projects covered, hats, scarves, slippers and socks. I've already tackled the first 3 and feel pretty confident I can try the socks next. I only knew how to cast off of regular knitting needles (long ago) before I started using the looms. Since then, using books, I have been able to do hats and (sort of) scarves. This DVD made things much more clear than any of the books or instructions I have. I highly recommend this DVD. I borrowed the library's copy and liked it enough to actually buy the DVD so I think that says it all. I learned how to knit on the loom from excellent videos from everyday people on youtube.com. I got this dvd to learn NEW things. From other reviews it sounded like a goldmine of information, it wasn't. This video will NOT teach you the knit stitch or the purl stitch. It will NOT show you how to increase or decrease. Her idea of a "decrease" is not knitting the end pegs. The ONLY stitch used is the knit-over. That gives you stockinette stitch. That is all she knits on this video. Video shows how to knit a basic hat, scarf, a slipper and a sock. If you really want to knit a loom sock or slipper then buy it. You can find everything but those 2 on youtube.com This is helpful for a true beginner that is trying to learn basics, but to someone that knows the basics and was looking to move up to the next level, it was a disappointment. I wanted to learn how to loom & saw this video. It teaches you how to loom a scarf, hat, socks & slippers to get you started. A must have for beginners. It shows you how to loom from "your view" - easy to follow. I purchased this dvd to learn how to loom knit. It's very good for teaching you the basics-if thats all you want to know. From glancing through books I know you can do other stitches on them and that's what I was hoping it would show. It would also have been nice if they showed you how to knit using "non circular" looms but that didn't happen either. Not sure if I would recommend it to anyone. Average Rating:![]() |

Peg Knitting Loom, Child SizeReviewsI love these Flexi-Looms--so comfortable to use. I've tried the rigid ones, like the Knifty Knitter brand, but they are stiff and awkward to hold, with little edges where the pick gets stuck. The In The Attic brand Flexi-Loom is made in one piece and the work seems to go more smoothly. My hands do not get tired with this type, meaning I am able to complete projects more quickly. Also, I received my order so fast from this Amazon seller. Definitely would recommend this to anyone interested in loom knitting. Average Rating:![]() |

Clover Extra Large Pom Pom MakerReviewsI bought this because Lion Brand Yarn came out with a super cute pom-pom rug pattern ([...]I was disappointed by the rubbery plastic disks that are supposed to pass for pom-pom makers, and that you can buy just about anywhere, and decided to use the pom-pom maker Lion Brand suggested for this project. I'll post pictures of the tool itself, but suffice to say, this thing rocks. You need to add layer after layer of yarn (don't just do one layer, it will be lame). It just works better if you cram as much yarn on there as possible. Great product! Average Rating:![]() |

Loom Knitting Primer: A Beginner's Guide to Knitting on a Loom, with over 30 Fun ProjectsReviewsThis book is an excellent resource for beginners or for the more experienced loom knitter. Isela is definately a pro at loom knitting. I purchased several books over the last month and found this book to be the most detailed of all of them. Isela has numerous video clips on the Internet showing her techniques which has made my learning experience to loom knitting successful. Including a DVD with Loom Knitting Primer: A Beginner's Guide to Knitting on a Loom, with over 30 Fun Projects or any other books on loom knitting would prove to be a great benefit to the customers who purchase this genre. The projects are so dated, and the instructions are no better than the instructions that come with the loom's package. This is a really terriffic book. I had bought the Knifty Knitter and was lost and frustrated while trying to create my own patterns. The book explains all, clearly and with excellent illustrations. I started using the round knitter in the 1990's but when I recently went back to this craft, I found the patterns and possibilities with new stitches and patterns were beyond my simple one-stitch beginner's understanding. I bought several books at the craft store but found them to be inadequate in giving instructions. Then I got smart and bought this book by Isela Phelps. Finally, a substantive overview with so much clear information as well as tricks of the trade that has brought my work to new levels and made this such a fun and creative craft. It covers both round and straight loom work and handy information about yarns as well as basic equipment and so many other aspects of this craft. It has helped me to realize that I also would like to work on finer gauge looms for those lovely fine knits that we all know and love. As a crocheter and knitter for almost 60 years, I am excited to add this craft to my yarn creations took kit. Isela Phelps sets the standard for instruction in this craft, i keep going back to this book for the wealth of information in it. it is the best! she takes you through each step, brings you from clueless to informed. great patterns in it too. Isela discusses how to buy a loom, yarn, techniques and stitches. a must read for every loom knitter. great! Average Rating:![]() |

Knitting looms are flying off the shelves in craft stores because loom- knitting is such an easy craft to take upâit can be learned by both children and adults alike in just a few hours. If you have fond memories of spool knitting (a round wooden spool with a central hole surrounded by four small nails) when you were a child then you know how easy it was to create yards and yards of knitted tubes... |

Learn New Stitches on Circle LoomsReviewsI'm new in the looming world and so far I love it.. This book is so helpful and easy to follow. great for a newbie like myself. Easy to follow directions with pictures that make it easy to follow.. I highly recomment. Lots of information, easy to use. Get more use of your looms and apply to patterns. Very pleased with this purchase. If you're new to the circle looms, this will give you some new ideas. I'm still in the process of teaching myself loom knitting. This book has additional information, including one interesting pattern that involves weaving along with knitting a hat. I tend to be a visual learner and this book helps me to a certain extent. One suggestion I would like to make to the authors...it would be even more helpful to include a DVD that can demonstrate the different techniques. Otherwise, I'm enjoying the different ideas for future projects that this book is providing. Average Rating:![]() |

Learn to Knit Cables on LoomsReviewsI've been Knifty Knitting for about 5 years and I've made hats, purses, shrugs, stuffed animals, etc. So, I'm no novice. But the cable stitch takes some practice. I still haven't figured out the wider cables because the stitches are so tight I can't get them off the pegs and when I make them loose, then the stitch is all loosy goosy. The instructions are good but needs a LOT more pictures to go along. I've made the scarf so far and that is a narrow cable so I think I did it right? But the next project I started was the purse and that has a wide cable. My stitch was so tight that I broke the yarn! I never saw a chain cast on before and now I love that method. The first row of whatever I made using the e-wrap was always really loose. Not so w/ the chain cast on. Cool! However, I cant' quite figure out the benefit of the knit stitch method over the e-wrap method? The e-wrap stitch forms a nicer V than the knit stitch method shown in the book. It was great to learn how to purl though. All in all, good book just needs more pictures for us visual learners. Keep cabling!!! The book had good, easy to follow instructions, alot of pictures so you could see if something was wrong right away. I would definatly buy this book (if I hadn't already done so :). Great book with easy to follow directions. Helps make the looms even more versitile. Good reference tool. A must have if you are ready to work cables on your loom. A simple and concise book; and a must have to the looming library! This book is a good source of patterns to use the Knifty Knitter loom. It has really good instructions, too. Average Rating:![]() |
