Stretch Knit Ballet Top by KD dance, Show Off Your Sexy Gorgeous Shoulders! In Over 20 Colors - Made in NYCReviewsO.k., so you know how the "Little Black Dress" is a fashion must-have? Well, I am willing to argue that this stretch-knit ballet top is *so* sleek, fabulous and elegant that *it* should be added to the standard repertoire of clothing must-haves. We could call it the LBT...Little Black Top. One thing I love about this top is that it does come all the way to your natural waistline - just below the belly button - so it's not one of those annoying crop tops that you try to wear out to dinner or a club, only to end up feeling slightly exposed. It covers your belly button, but it stops at just the most elegant place, and since it's stretchy, it moves with you - doesn't ride up or sag down. When I put it on with some capri pants, I felt like Audrey Hepburn in one of her elegant, timeless, well-fitted costumes. I highly recommend this top - it is soooo soft, and it makes you feel effortlessly sexy. Great quality, and so cute. Perfect fit without being too tight. Perfect for yoga, dance, or just relaxing. Seller is great to work with. Average Rating:![]() |

Vogue Knitting Stitchionary Volume One: Knit & Purl: The Ultimate Stitch Dictionary from the Editors of Vogue Knitting Magazine (Vogue Knitting Stitchionary Series)ReviewsI decided to check this out of the library before purchasing and I'm really glad I did. Found several errors, including a major one on my favorite pattern, the bobbles and vines. Found the descriptions at times difficult to follow. Would have been easier to follow a chart. My interest was in the lace patterns and this for me was disappointing. Did not really focus on the other chapters but perhaps for some those would be useful. I do love the yarns they chose. ...then this is a book for you. The editors went through and found all the inventive stitches from 20 years of Vogue Knitting. These aren't the entire projects that were previous published, just the stitches that went into them. They'll inspire you to try new things in socks, scarves, etc. What you need to go with this book are some of the universal pattern books that are available to give you an idea of how to use them in projects. I love the look of this book---the pages look so clean and clear, and I like the big pictures of each stitch knitted up, so I can get a pretty good idea of what it will look like done. There is a big variety of stitches, and it's fun to leaf through and decide which one to try next. However, I have a few complaints! I wish there were more fairly basic stitches that would be nice to have all in one place, and less odd stitches you will probably never actually use, like one that puckers up the knitting and one that looks like a new knitters mistake (condo stitch, I believe it is!) I think this might be because the patterns were all once in the Vogue knitting magazine, as a monthly column, and you probably have to put more exotic patterns in a magazine than you would in a book collection. Also, I always tend at first to think it's just me making mistakes, but at least 2 stitch patterns I tried were just plain not right---the rows didn't add up to the number of stitches called for, and I would end up with too many or not enough stitches at the end of a row to do what is called for, even when I counted over and over to make sure I had the number of stitches I was supposed to have. The book is also divided up oddly---I have tried and tried to figure out why one section is called "Travelling" and I just can't---are they good stitches to use when on a trip? They seem about like other lace designs to me. However, I do just love having this book around! It's such a nice big clear looking book, and it's inspiring to look at! A lot of patterns for the price -- in-depth descriptions of something like 450 different patterns! Great addition to my knitting book library, I was not disappointed. The book also includes true-to-size, high resolution photographs of each pattern done up in a swatch; if you already own the Vogue Book of Knitting, then you already know the Vogue books do really well with their photos. These also really help when learning. I was very pleased with this book. It has beautiful patterns, lovely layout and easy instructions. I loved the yarns used and the logical flow of the patterns. I only wish an alphabetical index of where to find certain patterns was included in the front or back of the book. I also loved two of the sweaters featured and would like to get my hands on the pattern for them. Does anyone know where they could be purchased/obtained? All in all, a satisfactory purchase. Jackets-For Work & Play (Best of Knitter's Magazine series)ReviewsI was very impressed with this book-- it has several designs that I plan to make. My work is fairly relaxed business wear, but this book has several choices that you could wear even in a more dressy environment. It also seems to run the gamut of beginner knits to more challenging designs, including one that uses 3 colors to simulate a woven tweed. Very nice! While I can't speak to how well-written these particular patterns are, I do have another Best of Knitter's book whose patterns are very easy to follow. Overall, a great book, especially for the price! The Best of Knitter's JACKETS FOR WORK AND PLAY packs in nearly thirty projects for a range of jackets from work jackets to casual and dressy clothes. Jackets, coats, and even a suit are presented in a lovely gathering which pairs full-page color photos with step-by-step knitting directions. Don't get discouraged by the unattractive yarns used in the pictures. Look at the design and construction. I have plans to knit a couple of the patterns, which I'm sure will be quite satisfactory when using more pleasing yarns. I love this book. It is hard to know which jacket to try first. The styles should appeal to a broad range of ages. I've purchased quite a few of the xrx 'best of' or 'knitter's dozen' books. It's so much easier than sorting through all my back issues of Knitter's. I love the mix of styles and techniques, and the fact that they've 're-knit' some of the older patterns with new [available]yarns. I do wish they would include the original publication info. And it would be nice if the index included thumbnail pix of the projects. Average Rating:![]() |

Kids Kids Kids: 40 Winning Patterns from the Knitter's Magazine ContestReviewsI bought a used book but I was not told that it was coming apart from the back cover, I still would have kept it but because I wasn't told I felt like someone dug through the garbage and mailed this to me. If you're a grandma like me who loves to love your grandkids with creating handknits, someone with lots of baby or children's gifts to give, or a mom who clicks the needles to relax, this is a great collection that you will return to often. I've just begun "Beribboned," a gorgeous and very feminine baby sweater. The directions are well-written, the illustrations lovely and large, and the designs eclectic and innovative. I can make my knitting "to do list" for the next several years from this collection :) Although I bought this as a gift when the time comes and I become a grandmother I will be sure to get a copy for myself. When yarn shopping with my friend we saw this book on display and noticed the projects were new and different. As we looked through the book she mentioned several of the projects she liked which is why I gave it to her for Christmas. Since it was a gift I didn't read it so I don't know how easy the patterns are to follow. My friend loved it and has already started to use it. I've made a bunch of the sweaters in this book. I love the patterns - very well done and some cool, unique ideas. There's a simple baby sweater that involves weaving a ribbon around the edge when you're done - really cute. I gave a friend's son the snowman sweater and he looked soooo cute in it! This is my favorite knitting book - and probably like all knitters, I have a bunch! I *love* the stuff in this book. I'm making the "St George and the Dragon" sweater for my son, who is currently obsessed with dragons. I made the puppets for my nieces and nephews, who adore them, and the Gingerbread house purse was easy and soooooo cute! They even included ratings for each project (from beginner to experienced) and a section that explains each stich that may be new to you. This book taught me to crochet! I *highly* recommend this book. Average Rating:![]() |
